American Idol Top 9 Results

Tonight was the results night for the top 9 with guest performers nicki minaj and the american idol champ Scotty Mcreery. Im sure tonight had alot of viewers i mean...who doesn't want to watch Nicki Minaj. So on to the results Heejun had the lowest votes and was sent packing, well after he sang for his life but it was more of a farewell performance.

American Idol Top 9: Songs From Their Idol's

Last night the contestants took on the songs from their personal idols and this was hands down the best night of the entire season, maybe because the theme had so much range that the contestants could pick pretty much whatever they wanted. the contestants all showed us why we fell in love with them in the first place. No bad performances but i think 5 standing O's was unnecessary. the standing ovations on this show has lost all meaning and most of them went to the guys even thought the girls are much better this year. Well anyways it was hard to rank these performances since they were all pretty good so here we go!

Dont forget to leave a comment!

My Ranking from just OK to great (there was no worst)

Heejun Han- A song for you
A song that should have been retired a while ago and boring heejun has returned. well to his defense it was his best performance to date and his tone is just beautiful but he still isn't going to win. was it better than Elliot Yamin's version? no, but overall it was OK. eh he might be in the bottom 3. 7/10

Colton Dixon- Everything
So this week colton decides to win over some votes by showing america his religious side. it was pretty emotional but i wasn't impressed. the performance was kind of a bore and his voice wasn't the strongest. he will be safe thought. They keep calling him a dark horse but he stands the strongest chance of winning. Not his best one last night. 7.5/10

Deandre Brackensick- Sometimes i cry
I knew he would sing this song! and finally he uses his falsetto which is his strongest point. I did like the performance but he has no variety in his vocals. its either all falsetto or no falsetto at all. Not as good as the original so i think hes in trouble this week. he just isn't as popular as the others. 7.5/10

Joshua Ledet- Without you
Man, Joshua is becoming so predictable same over the top performance as usual. I didn't enjoy the beginning but i did like the ending. i still prefer James durbins version of the song. Joshua seemed to get emotional i guess u just cant sing this song without shedding tears haha. besides ALL that...it wasn't terrible and he should be safe. 7.5/10

Phillip Phillips- Still raining'
OK im a huge Phillip ^2 fan but it seems like he does the same thing every week. he did however pick the right song for his voice and the whole thing was pretty good. but its time for something different i wanted him to sing a Dave Mathews song but w.e. he got a standing o' but coming from these judges what does that really mean? Hell be safe no doubt 8/10

Hollie Cavanagh- Jesus take the wheel
I don't know what randy was talking about i thought this performance was good. her vocals weren't perfect but for the first time she connected with the song. of course it wasn't as good as Carries version but hollies performance was way too underrated. Oh by the way she officially has Pia Toscano syndrome and there's no turning back! im scared for her this week =[ 8/10

Skylar Laine- Gun  podwer and Lead
Dammit! im starting to like skylar! not completely sold but this girl is in it to win it haha even thought i highly doubt america will crown another country star. she put on a great show and once she got started there was no stopping this girl. very similar to the performance she gave during the top 25. 8/10

Jessica Sanchez- Sweet Dreams
Not to be confused with the Eurythmitics. this was a great song choice for Jessica and didn't i say last week that she sounds just like beyonce. she did a slowed down version of the song which i guess i liked and she showed great vocal control and restraint. And whats up with the crazy staging american idol has this year! 9/10

Elise Testone- Whole Lotta Love
A performance worthy of a standing Ovation! i didn't know Elise had this in her. she proved that she can rock out more than Colton and PP. Elise is now the Haley Reinhart of the season and she isn't a front runner just yet but she is definitly a strong contender. HOPEFULLY  she stays out of the bottom three. 9.5/10

Bottom three:
Deandre, Heejun, Hollie/Joshua

American idol season 11 : What i missed

Well since i never blogged about the auditions, Hollywood rounds, or the top 24. i decided to talk about it a little bit.

Comeback kids
this year many past contestants came back strong, Aaron, Deandre, Hollie, Colton, Chase, Baylie.
im glad they came back though because they deserved it.

The judges
Id never thought i would say this but, the judges are actually giving pretty good feedback! randy is the voice of reason but sometimes doesn't know what hes talking about haha. Jennifer is always getting "goosies" but better judge than Paula and Nicole were on the xfactor. Steven has finally given some harsh criticism but still says beautiful at least 20 times a night. and whats up with all the standing o's?

Standouts
So far the front runners are pretty clear, Phillip Phillips and colton rack up the teen girl votes and i wont be surprised if they both ended up in the top 3. Joshua is also a strong contender
As for the girls, Jessica Sanchez, Hollie Cavanagh are the two powerhouses of the show. Im still mad that Lauren grey didn't make it.

American Idol Top 10 Results

Sadly we say goodbye to Erika Van pelt. i was a bit suprised but i knew the judges wouldnt save her. It must suck to get a complete makeover and get voted off the next day. but either way i dont think she should have left yet. Oh and Haley Reinhart made an appearance! Damn she looked good!

Safe:

  • Phillip Phillips
  • Hollie Cavanagh
  • Elise Testone (finally)
  • Joshua Ledet
  • Colton Dixon (ryan tried to trick him again)
  • Jessica Sanchez (duh)
  • Skylar Laine
Bottom three
  • Erika Van Pelt
  • Heejun Han
  • Deandre Brakensick
Eliminated
  • Erika Van Pelt (wtf)
Next week is the music from their personal idols with mentor STEVIE NICKS!

American Idol Top 10: Billy Joel

This week the top 10 took on the music of billy Joel. until now i have only heard one Joel song my entire life so all the songs were new to me. Also is it just me or was Tommy Hilfiger's advice WORTHLESS nobody took his advice especially Phillips. And the mentor diddy? C'mon son, he gave the worse advice. i think Billy Joel would have been a better mentor on a Billy Joel week!  but anyways overall, like always there were stand out performances and a few not so good.

from worst to best (my opinion)

Deandre Brakensick- Only the good die young
Is he still here?? so far Deandre has managed to give very forgettable performances. I considered him a front runner during the SFYL rounds when he sang "this woman's work". but this weeks performance while it was a bit entertaining, with all the great singers this year, Deandre doesn't make the cut. he will end up in the bottom 3.

Heejun Han- My life
I must say im glad he didn't do another boring performance but it doesn't mean i loved this one. it was corny and the vocals were not good. BUT it was a smart move..why? because everyone including heejun knows he isnt going to win much like Sanjaya from season 6, its better to be a remember-able clown than a boring snooze conestant. he wont be eliminated this week because he had way too many fans.

Hollie Cavanagh- Honesty
Honestly im worried about Hollie. this was the first time she has had vocal problems. i knew she was going to sing a ballad again which makes me think she will catch the pia toscano syndrome. this was a very boring performance and she didn't hit the right notes. shed better sing her butt off next week or shes in trouble.

Joshua Ledet- Shes got a way
I hope joshua isn't a one trick pony because that's whats it is starting to look like. he tried to take it to church again this week but it did not work. he looked uncomfortable and you can tell he didn't like this song. Thats pretty much all i have to say about this performance...he will be safe for now

Skylar Laine- Shameless
Ok i haven't been a skylar fan so far and whenever she performs i don't really care. but i think this was my favorite performance from her but her voice is a still a little too country for my liking. it was forgettable compared to the other contestants which is why its ranked so high on my list.

Erika Van Pelt- New York state of mind
I think her new look is great! BUT i don't recognize who she is anymore. i feel like she is loosing her rocker edge and this song is just to loungey. I still love her voice and the vocals were flawless but i don't know if america will buy this one.

Phillip Phillips- Movin' out
He didn't listen to Tommy and he didn't listen to diddy..smart move? of course! i think if he would have came out there without his guitar and wearing some flashy clothes..he wouldn't be Phillip anymore. so with that being said i like the performance. i like the way he changes up the melody but it was a little too much growl. no doubt hell be safe.

Elise Testone- Vienna
I loved this one by Elise. her tone, her swag, and that run in the end. this was a great performance. but just like last week i hope she isnt in the bottom 3. maybe its her age or her attitude..i don't get it.

Colton Dixon- Piano man
I have always noticed the little squeak in his voice. you either like it or you don't, i don't mind it. but others consider it annoying. this was obviously suppose to be coltons night and it kinda was. the performance was a 8/10. it was the best song choice of the night and the staging helped.

Jessica Sanchez- Everybody has a dream
Sooo much better than last week. and is it just me or does she sound just like beyonce? well anyways great song choice and overall a flawless performance. she connected very well with the song and used her falsetto and lower register really well.
